Welcome to The Royal School Digital Archives that takes us back to the early days of The Grove School, the Royal Naval School and, from 1995, The Royal School. We are delighted to be able to share a small part of our School’s archive collection with you.
Whether you are a former pupil, parent or member of staff looking back on school days or a family researcher whose forbears had a connection with the School, we hope you will enjoy browsing this rich and fascinating resource and will find what you are looking for.
If you have photographs or memories of The Grove School, the Royal Naval School or The Royal School please do send them to us so we can share them. We welcome all additions to our Archives which provide an invaluable social history of School life – however we must make you aware that only a selection will appear on this digital resource.
Do please contact us at development@royal.surrey.sch.uk if you have any questions about the site.
Funds to allow us to digitalise some of our archive material have come from a legacy, generously donated by Rosemary Brooke-Smith (née Prescott Roberts), who left the Royal Naval School in 1940. She returned after the war as Matron of High Rough, one of the boarding houses in the School’s new home on Farnham Lane. She later went on to become a State Registered Nurse in 1948. We are very grateful to her for remembering the school and leaving this legacy.
